Hangzhou City University (HZCU) is a full-time public university approved by China's Ministry of Education and Hangzhou Municipal People's Government. Since its establishment in 1999, HZCU has been dedicated to providing high-quality higher education that caters to the evolving needs of our students and contributes to the advancement of the economy and society. In June 2020, Hangzhou Municipal People’s Government and Zhejiang University signed a cooperation agreement to exceptionally support its leap-forward development so that HZCU would make it to be China’s top application-oriented university.
HZCU prepares students to meet the complex challenges facing society today. Students engage with professors and fellow students from the very beginning, developing their strengths with beyond-the-classroom experiences.
HZCU seeks new knowledge that can change and improve how we all work and live. Students and young professionals have the opportunity to participate in research alongside professors who are leaders in their fields.
HZCU applies its expertise to meet the needs of Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province, and China. HZCU partners with communities across Hangzhou to engage its students, faculty, and staff in addressing society's most pressing issues.
HZCU has been exploring new education mechanisms to cultivate high-quality, practice-oriented talents and better serve the community with cutting-edge knowledge. With a focus on personalized learning, industry-academia collaboration, interdisciplinary studies, and global perspectives, the University has launched a range of innovative and industry-relevant programs to empower students to reach their full potential. Additionally, HZCU has established and operated research institutes, such as the Brain and Cognition Research Center, under the guidance of top-tier experts in the field.
HZCU offers social services through government-industry-university-research collaboration. Anchored in Hangzhou, HZCU is determined to serve the Zhejiang province and seek opportunities nationwide. Several industry-themed colleges and high-level R&D platforms have been established to implement strategic agreements and contracts with the local government and enterprises. Seeing Hangzhou as the most extensive laboratory, HZUC is also actively contributing to the city’s development.
HZCU has developed an integrated and intelligent public data platform to effectively utilize both internal and external resources, creating a convenient work and study environment. The implementation of a 5G campus network ensures that faculty and students can access online resources quickly and securely. Additionally, the platform enables students to participate in campus activities and university management, fostering a stronger sense of belonging and pride.
