Recently, the English edition ofThe Cities of Song China (960-1279), the acclaimed academic monograph by Professor Bao Weimin of Hangzhou City University, has been officially published by Routledge, a globally renowned academic press. The English translation was led by Professor Wang Zhitian from the Department of Chinese Language and Literature, Sun Yat-sen University (Zhuhai).

Focusing on urban development during the Song Dynasty (10th–13th centuries),The Cities of Song China employs extensive historical documents (including local gazetteers, notes, literary collections) and archaeological materials to conduct a systematic and in-depth analysis of the spatial structure, administrative systems, economic functions, social organization, and daily life of Song cities. Professor Bao's research not only reveals the pivotal role and distinctive characteristics of Song cities in the evolution of ancient Chinese urbanism but also provides critical perspectives for understanding social transformations in traditional China.
